Faster, Smarter Solvent Extraction Workflows
Sample preparation remains one of the most labor-intensive and variable stages of chromatographic analysis. Despite significant advances in analytical instrumentation, many laboratories continue to rely on conventional extraction techniques that have changed little over the last century.
Microwave-assisted extraction offers a modern alternative by combining closed-vessel technology with controlled microwave heating. This approach allows solvents to reach temperatures beyond their normal boiling point, improving analyte dissolution and enhancing mass transfer from the sample matrix. As a result, laboratories can achieve more efficient extractions, reduce solvent consumption, and dramatically shorten preparation times.
Compared to traditional extraction methods, microwave extraction delivers high reproducibility, excellent recovery rates, and greater analytical consistency while simplifying laboratory workflows.

The ETHOS X LEAN embraces Milestone’s philosophy of a “microwave labstation”. The ETHOS X LEAN platform is capable of several extraction applications: extraction of pollutants from environmental and food samples can be done in just few minutes, consuming less solvent than other technologies, thereby improving productivity while decreasing costs, all in full accordance with the US EPA 3546.
Additional accessories are available to further expand the ETHOS X LEAN capabilities: a dedicated configuration for fat determination in food samples which greatly improves turn-around-time, specific rotors to match the requirements of several extraction processes for GC and HPLC analysis, and an easy to use filtration system that improves the workflow and the productivity.
Some applications, between the others: THC and CBD from Cannabis, Poliphenols in plants, PAH in asphalt, EOM in rocks, extractables from pulp and wood.
SR-6 rotor for solvent extraction
The SR-6 rotor is ideal for extraction that requires more robust conditions such as total fat determination, FAMEs, MOAH and MOSH analysis in food and feed.
Its robust vessel design enables operation at elevated temperatures, ensuring efficient extraction of target analytes and supporting accurate and reliable results.
RAR-15 and NMR-12 rotor for solvent extraction
The RAR-15 and MMR-12 rotors enable efficient evaporation of extraction solvents under controlled conditions. Designed to streamline post-extraction workflows, they reduce manual handling and processing time, simplifying laboratory operations.
SFS-24 rotor for filtration
The SFS-24 simultaneous filtration system allows up to 24 samples to be filtered in just a few minutes. Its compact design reduces fume hood space requirements and simplifies sample handling, enabling faster and more efficient post-extraction processing.
fastEX-12 rotor For enviro extraction
The fastEX-12 rotor is specifically designed for the extraction of organic pollutants from environmental and food samples such as dioxins, PAHs, PCBs, and others.
Based on disposable glass vial technology, it enables efficient extraction with low solvent consumption while simplifying sample handling and eliminating cleaning steps, ensuring reproducible results.
XTR-30 rotor for PFAS analysis
The XTR-30 rotor is designed for PFAS extraction from solid matrices, supporting EPA Method 1633.
It processes up to 30 samples using polypropylene tubes, reducing contamination risks and eliminating cleaning for reliable and reproducible results.
